E. Francis-Moore  filed  on  Tuesday, July 7th as a candidate for Bentonville School Board in Zone 1.

Moore is a native Arkansan and currently works with juveniles in the criminal justice system while pursuing a Master’s degree in criminal justice.  She has four children, three of whom attend Bentonville Public Schools and one who has graduated.

“I’m running for school board for my kids. I have three children in the district and this is my opportunity to ensure that they have the best quality education available.  I want to protect my children's future and the future of those growing up in our community.  If we don't protect our future we don't protect our country," Moore said.

In her experience working with juveniles in the criminal justice system, Moore says the most frustrating thing is seeing the same young people coming back through the system.  She is excited to support the district's Gateway program to help at-risk students stay in school and out of trouble.  In addition to her work with at-risk students Moore is a life long advocate for diversity and a strong supporter of antibullying measures.

When elected to the board, Moore will be an advocate on several key issues facing the district:  the search for land and the planning for a new elementary school in western Bella Vista;  monitoring programs for both high schools to ensure they offer the same opportunities for students; and making sure there are no barriers to attracting, retaining, and developing the very best talent.
  “Our family motto is: ‘We are the Moores. People expect more from us.’ More is what you can expect from me as  your representative from Zone 1,” she said.
