On February 2nd, 2013, I was crowned Miss Maryland United States. As a result, I will be representing
the state of Maryland in the Miss United States Pageant which is to be held July 4th - 7th. As the reigning
Miss Maryland, I am an active participant in my community as well as the state of Maryland and the DC
Metropolitan area. This title provides an avenue for me to give a voice to those needing to be heard, lend
a hand to those less fortunate, and be a compass for those daring to dream. My platform is youth mentorship
with a focus on inner city youth. The Miss United States organization allows me, as well as women
all over the country, to interact and discuss our achievements in service and volunteerism.
I am excited to be vying for the title of Miss United States. The Miss United States pageant is an excellent
opportunity for me to have the experience of a lifetime and make lasting networking opportunities while
continuing to be a role model within my community.
If I am selected as Miss United States 2013, I will be provided the opportunity to travel the country to
interact and promote my platform as well as assist and facilitate raising funds, increasing awareness, and
promoting local events in each state for Relay for Life in conjunction with the American Cancer Society.
This opportunity can open many doors, the possibilities are endless.
As a state title holder, we have been encouraged to inquire donations from family, friends, and community
businesses and leaders to meet financial obligation and build communication skills. As a sponsor, you will
play an important part in helping me reach my goals in competing for Miss United States 2013. Any
sponsorship donations will be used for preparation costs, wardrobe, and hotel accommodations for the
four-day, three-night program and competition.
In exchange for sponsor donation, I, Miss Maryland United States, would love to be involved in any
upcoming company events as well as programs where my appearance is a benefit to your organization.

Meet Ciera
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Ciera Nicole
Butts attended Baltimore City College High School, a
National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. In an
effort to serve the community, Ciera was involved in a
community-based modeling organization which served
as esteem building activities and commodious
productive work areas, which kept teens away from
inner city violence, and helped motivate teens to
continue their ambitions. Ciera also served as
President of her graduating class three years at
Baltimore City College.
Upon Graduating from Baltimore City College, Ciera
began her undergraduate studies at Marymount
University in Arlington, VA where she earned her
Bachelors of Arts Degree. While at Marymount, Ciera
was heavily involved in a number of organizations,
including The L.I.S.T. (Ladies Inspiring Strength for
Tomorrow), which Ciera established and served as
President and Vice President, the Head Public
Relations Officer for the Marymount University
Fashion Department, and a member of the Black
Student Alliance.
As a resident in the D.C.
Metropolitan area, Ciera was able undergo hands on
experience volunteering and working for various
events and organizations such as: Men Against Breast
Cancer, Becky's Fund, Luke's Wings, Key to the Cure,
St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and the
Washington Humane Society. While at Marymount
University, Ciera also served as a founder for the first
ever Voyage to Utopia Scholarship fund, which is
awarded to one incoming freshmen at Marymount University every year.
As an Event Management and Public Relations Professional, Ciera has developed a strong foundation in
special events and brand building communications. She was recently the Public Relation and Marketing
Intern at IMG, as well as Production Coordinator at a private event production firm in New York City.
Currently, Ciera is the reigning Miss Maryland United States and will be representing the state of
Maryland in the Miss United States Pageant. Her title provides an avenue for her to give a voice to those
needing to be heard, lend a hand to those less fortunate, and be a compass for those daring to dream.
Ciera is an advocate for youth empowerment, confidence building, and scholastic achievement of young
adults. She believes that confidence is a key essential for success.
