Remembering Jay...

Merry Christmas!
First, I want to thank you for your generosity in my past Christmas campaigns. Each year I try to find a way to gift others during this season. Usually it's done via the ministries that I get to work with, but this year it's a little more personal.
That's my brother Jay with me in the picture above (circa early 80's) who passed away last year. Over the years he and I had not stayed in touch like we should have. It was mostly my fault, I guess. I thought his life was messy, and I just didn't do my part to keep close. Then there was the funeral...
People came forward and spoke of how Jay had touched their lives when things got difficult. How he was there for them and what it meant to them. I realized that my little brother had left a legacy.
Life gets messy for all of us at times, doesn't it? I know that it has for me. During my challenging times, it meant the world to me that others were willing to enter my mess. People who had nothing to gain - who just wanted to help. I don't know where I'd be now if they hadn't.
After Jay died I decided I would be more willing to enter into the messes of others, and by grace, I've been given some opportunities to do so this Christmas Season. As I do, I'm reminded that this is the season when we remember the One who entered our mess.
Your donation would help me help a couple of families - both with small children - who are looking at a bleak Christmas this year. One of them is a very young, unwed couple who are a little overwhelmed with the responsibility of an 8 month old, and having difficulty finding a stable housing situation. The other is a family with 3 children, who have come upon some temporary financial challenges. Both families have parents who are hard working and want the best for their families.
Most of all, your gift will help me give them what we all need most when things get messy - HOPE!
