The Edwardsville Firefighters Local1700 is spearheading a funding drive to raise money to replace the out of date and non-functional fire alarm system in the Metro East Humane Society building.
MEHS is a not-for-profit agency and relies solely on donations to operate. The fire alarm system is old and in a state of disrepair. The building is not staffed around the clock, so early notification of a fire would undoubtedly benefit the lives of the animals that reside there. George Alarm Inc. has agreed to donate labor to install a new alarm system, however hardware costs still exist.
