Several years back during a match we were helping to rso (range safety officer) for we noticed a disturbing trend. Instead of explaining to the non shooters at the event and helping them learn most people simply placed them out of the way and relied on locks and stern looks to maintain safety.
As individuals who were raised around firearms and constantly reminded that they are not toys, we quickly assumed the role of teacher and began helping the people watching better understand the wonderful world of firearms. This desire to see others understand that firearms are not dangerous entities but merely tools in a prepared persons chest, quickly metamorphosed into my giving multiple training sessions for new shooters.
We began to record the results and engaged the help of several extremely talented shooters, this resulted in a series of very specific class models and syllabi. One in particular, of which we are very proud, teaches an individual who has never before even held a firearm to understand and shoot it well enough to pass an fbi qualification test with only 50 rounds of ammunition. (The amount of the qualifier they will pass).
We decided to take too this medium to raise funds so that we would be able to expand into more than one state. It is our goal to be in every single one of the 48 lower states within 5 years. And to be teaching several thousand people how to safely handle a firearm and use one as it was originally meant to be used, in defense of self and family.
To this day over 7 years after the first class we have not charged for this instruction, preferring to run on donations of time, location of and even ammunition. Instead of attempting to make thousands of dollars teaching, we as a group of individuals simply wish to see less violence and accidental bloodshed through better understanding and solid basics/training.
