Katrina is 24 years old and was teaching 5th Grade in Northeast Philadelphia.  She was diagnosed on June 3rd 2015 with Stage IV Colon cancer that has metastasized to her liver at an advanced stage. The cancer has spread quickly and aggressively, and her doctors have started chemotherapy and treatments.

Katrina is attending an integrative oncology clinic in Arizona that combines both chemotherapy and alternative methods of therapy. Insulin Potentiated Therapy chemotherapy is used at 10% dosage level of normal chemotherapy levels, administered 4 times over a two week period instead of once over a two week period. It uses insulin to specifically target the cancer cells by lowering blood sugar levels and then administering the chemo drugs with a small amount of glucose. Because cancer cells have more insulin receptors than any other cell, they absorb the glucose, and thus also the chemotherapy drugs, leaving little left over to attack healthy cells. The low dosage level does not have the same harmful side effects as normal chemotherapy levels. In addition to immune system builders administered through IVs, other detoxification therapies and nutritional strategies are used to boost the body's immune system.

The costs are about $20000.00 per month, and the doctors are advising that Katrina needs to be in Arizona for three months. Most of the therapy will not be covered by insurance. The portions that will be covered by insurance (such as the chemotherapy) need to be paid in advance and then submitted to the insurance company. Because of deductibles and the delayed time for the insurance company to process claims, she does not expect a reimbursement for about three months. Consequently, she has a need for her account to be increased to $60000.00 over the next 2.5 months.
