Justice for Little Debbie

Donation protected
The Comanche County Sheriff's Office is offering a reward of $200-$300 for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for abusing and almost killing this sweet 1 year old pup, Little Debbie, pictured above. WE ARE ADDING TO THAT REWARD. Several people have contacted me about adding to that reward, so I set this page up specifically for that and for sharing.

For details on the case I have included her story to date. If you scroll down the page, in all CAPS and bolded, you will see the extent of her injuries:

On March 23rd in Gustine, a small town just east of Comanche, my mom heard her dogs barking and a loud truck idling outside of her house. She went to the door to see what was going on, just as the vehicle drove out of sight. In the road, left behind, she saw a very thin beagle with it's neck far outstretched and twisted. As she approached the dog, she noticed that something was very wrong. The dog was traumatized and could barely move, her head was very swollen, her stance was off, her eyes were literally wobbling around in her head, she was having some difficulty breathing and she was extremely hot to the touch. My mom immediately got her some water, which she drank a ton of and then threw it up, before rushing her to the Comanche County Vet Clinic. Upon her arrival, the vet was baffled at why her body temperature was so high. He examined her and came to the conclusion that she had been hit very hard in the head and she had a concussion.

Once the bloodwork and x-rays were the information began to point towards abuse. One of the first indications was a small bullet/BB next to her spine. 3 days after her arrival she was not doing any better, she was vomiting every time she would eat or drink and it wasn't looking good. At this point they had named the dog Shiloh. Because she was in such critical condition, the vet recommended having her transferred to a facility equipped for intensive care and he estimated that it would cost between $3K and $5K for treatment. I have an animal rescue page https://www.facebook.com/SaveADogRescueBlog that I use to help find animals homes and I have a long list of contacts within the rescue community. That night, my husband and I reached out to everyone we knew, plastered her story everywhere we could think of and set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to pay for her medical costs.

Less than 18 hours later, we had enough money to pay for her treatment at the Comanche Clinic and a rescuer that we had contacted put us in touch with her vet Dr. Barbara Braziel, a retired police officer who is now a veterinarian in Royce City at Country Friends Veterinary Clinic  who also works with Texas Little Cuties  (a rescue organization). Because of the severity of the situation Dr. Braziel suggested keeping Shiloh at her home where she also has a medical area set up. Within 2 hours of hercontacting me, my mom and her were meeting in Benbrook. Since then there has been a flurry of new information about Shiloh, now renamed Little Debbie.

This is the combined information/documentation that we have received from all three vets, including Dr. Braziel, consistent with her having been hung, or otherwise choked, and beaten:

UNDERWEIGHT - extremely thin and malnourished

MEGAESOPHAGUS - where the muscles of the esophagus are no longer able to propel food and water into the stomach. She has to be held upright after food or water for approx. 20 minutes to allow time to digest.

CONJUCTIVAL HEMATOMA IN BOTH EYES - bruising/broken blood vessels in the eyes

HORNER'S SYNDROME LEFT EYE - signs are drooping eye lid, unequal pupils. This happens as a result of an interruption between the sympathetic nerve supply and the eye.

HEAD TRAUMA - Swelling over left eye due to impact (recent x-rays confirmed no fracture)

BB BULLET - next to her spine

I have posted the story to https://www.facebook.com/groups/ComancheCountyBreakingNews/  and everyone is fed up, especially after the Miss Molly case. I've posted it in numerous locations but the Comanche Breaking News page is hitting closest to home for everyone. We have had 136 shares in less than 48 hours.

We have photographs, x-rays and vet statements.

CONJUCTIVAL HEMATOMA - left eye

CONJUCTIVAL HEMATOMA - right eye

HORNER'S SYNDROME LEFT EYE

MEGAESOPHAGUS

HEAD TRAUMA - swelling over left eye - updated from previously believed skull fracture

BB BULLET - next to her spine
