John Edward "Jay" Schlierman was a passionate teacher, an avid historian, and devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved baseball, his alma mater, Brigham Young University, serving in his church, and most of all, his family. On Monday, January 25, he left this life for his next calling in the spirit world.
At this time his family lacks the means to provide him with the kind of service he so richly deserves. I am his daughter-in-law and have set up this memorial fund to help offset the costs and lift some of the burden from the shoulders of his wife and sons. Papa Jay would want his passing to be as easy on them as possible, so they could focus more on celebrating his life and continuing to progress in their own.
The funds raised will be used to cover the costs involved in the service and related expenses. Any remaining money will be given to the humanitarian fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to help others in need.
Funds will be most helpful by Monday, February 1st, though donations given after that will be equally appreciated.
I want to express my deepest gratitude, and that of the rest of Jay's family, to all who give, either monetarily or by keeping us in prayers.
