Al-Iman Center Cemetery Appeal
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam,
On behalf of Al-Iman Center of Iowa City Mosque, we would like to invite you to join our Iowa City community in completing the final phases of the Al-Iman Center Muslim-Cemetery project. The project initiated due to the urgent need of an Islamic burial site in the area of Iowa City, Iowa. This is especially due to the continuing reduction of Islamic burial grounds in neighboring counties.
We closed on the cemetery land on 1-30-2014, and praise be to Allah swt we now have a Muslim cemetery in Iowa City with 378 current burial plots. This is a great accomplishment and a blessing from Allah swt. However, the purchase of the cemetery land and getting approval from both Johnson county and the City of Iowa City is just the first phase of this project. Much more remains to be done to acquire a fully functional cemetery. We would need at least $40,000 to complete the second phase (out of 3) of the project (Road project.) The latter will enable us to utilize the land for immediate burial. We would also need more funds for Phase III (Building project), inshaAllah. We would again rely on your generosities and commitments to complete these final phases of the project.
Therefore, we humbly appeal to our brothers and sisters in assisting us with this project that will not only be of benefit to the Iowa City community, but also to neighboring communities near Johnson County. To this regard, we are setting the goal of $120,000 (40,000-Road Project & 80,000-Building Project).
- "When a man passes away, his good deeds will also come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased)" Narrated by Abu Hurairah, Sahih Muslim
-“And whatever good thing you spend, it is to your own good; and you do not spend but to seek Allah's pleasure; and whatever good things you spend shall be paid back to you in full, and you shall not be wronged.” 2:72
-“The likeness of those who spend their wealth in Allah's way is as the likeness of a grain which groweth seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains. Allah giveth increase manifold to whom He will. Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.” 2:261
-“Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and spend out of what He has made you to be successors of; for those of you who believe and spend shall have a great reward.” 57:7
- In the Qudsi Hadeeth, the Prophet PBUH narrated that Allah The Almighty Said: “O son of Aadam! Spend and I Will Spend on you.”[Al-Bukhaari, Muslim and Ahmad]
