Help Raise Funds to Support Orphaned & Disabled Children

This September I will be embarking on a journey unlike any I have traveled on before. The purpose of this adventure is not only to challenge myself but to finally have the opportunity to work with disadvantaged youth around the world. While I am scared and don\'t quite know what to expect, I am also incredibly excited to be fortunate enough to work with two organizations that are helping children in need.
The first organization, based in Mombassa, Kenya, is called the Daos Children\'s Centre. Their mission is to provide for the immediate and long term care of Kenya\'s abandoned orphans in the Mombassa region by providing a safe and loving home environment in which children may grow and prosper. The Centre is comprised of a very small staff who have dedicated their lives to prevent exploitation, promote education, reduce childhood drug addictions, improve nutrition, reduce early childhood labor, & provide adequate medical care. The second organization I will be working with is called the Thanh Xuan Peace Village in Hanoi, Vietnam. It provides a safe home and education for over 100 children and young adults who suffer from the effects of \"Agent Orange\". Agent Orange is the American code name for an herbicide called dioxin which was sprayed from American planes to clear enemy forests during the Vietnam War. The effects of this poison are both physical and mental, and once in the human bloodstream and regional air supply, can effect children born generations from now. Victims suffer from a range of defects; it is common to be born without eyes, limbs, & organs, and many are born with spinal/nervous disorders and/or severe mental disorders. Both the Daos Children\'s Centre and the Peace Village rely heavily on the support of donations, which is why I am asking for your help. While I will do all that I can to help for the brief period of time I will be working at the two organizations, I would love to be able to make a longer lasting impact by providing them with tools and money that they need to grow and support the children they serve.
Any money that you donate will not go towards my trip, but towards these organizations. Please consider giving something small to help two wonderful causes.
