Susan has multiple sclerosis (MS) and we’re fundraising so that she can access a new treatment, AHSCT. She’s not eligible for it here in the UK because she’s now considered to be too disabled, but she’s been accepted for the treatment in India.
The treatment is not a cure but it offers the best chance of halting the disease for Susan and it may reduce the pain she’s in and the fatigue she suffers from. This will greatly enhance the quality of her life. Please donate if you can. Thank you!
A bit about Susan…
In her early years, Susan was full of energy, full of life, gorgeous and cheeky; one teacher put it beautifully in a school report when she wrote, “Susan is bubbling over with the joy of living”.
At 21, Susan had a good job, was newly-married and looking forward to family life. And then she was diagnosed with MS.
Gradually, over the years, Susan has lost her mobility. She now relies on a wheelchair to get around, she has debilitating fatigue which means she spends most of her time in bed, and she feels constantly ill. She has difficulty swallowing and chokes frequently, she’s in terrible and constant pain, and she has depression. True to herself, she makes the best of what she has and tries hard to be upbeat and positive, even in a situation which would have broken most of us.
Susan had to give up work while she was still in her early 20s. She’s become more isolated over the years and relies on social media to keep in touch with the outside world because she’s often too ill to see people. She is now single and lonely, and things are looking very bleak for her as she’s declining rapidly.
MS is an indiscriminate and disabling condition, Susan has suffered for many years, and this treatment is her best chance of enjoying the rest of her life in more comfort.
