Help Senior Citizens of Nepal

“Nothing remains of my house; I can do nothing to support myself. Where should I go? I have no place to call my own”, said the lady. As we started on our journey to Sindhupalchok, we found the sights on the way to be terribly heart-wrenching. 63,885 private houses have completely collapsed and 2,751 houses are partially destroyed in Sindhupalchok. Other parts of the country like Dolakha, Barpak, Rasuwa and Kavrepalanchok have seen equally catastrophic fate. Even the major landmarks in Nepal, including the world cultural heritages and Dharahara have collapsed to the ground. Situated only 80 Kilometers northeast of the populous city Kathmandu, Sindhupalchok is one of the districts that has borne major brunt of the recent earthquakes. Death tolls have reached 3426 and 859 people injured in Sindhupalchok alone, the lives of people have become nightmarish and the houses have turned into rubble.

Nepali people have shown tremendous strength and humanity in the face of this travesty. Support from all over the world has also exceedingly contributed in lessening the impact of the disaster. As monsoon is at our doorstep, and earthquake victims are still deprived of roofs over their heads, emphasis on shelter construction, both permanent and temporary, has become a matter of urgency. Shortages of tents and tarpaulins all over the country and fear among the people to live inside their houses, has caused a state of panic. Another major threat that the monsoon is to bring is the proneness to water-borne diseases.

Child and old population of Nepal, are at serious threat in the aftermath of these continuing earthquakes. With no physical strength and high financial dependence, old population is in need of emotional support and financial assistance from all sectors and faculties. It is time to live up to the meaning of humanity, in the true sense of the word, and Nepalese people have successfully done that. There is still a lot more to be done, and unified efforts are crucial to see them to success.

During this period of urgency, Blueprint of Hope, with a vision to assist old people resume normal lives, has come up with a project “Help us Help Senior Citizens”. On our visit to Sindhupalchok with an aim of witnessing the impacts of the earthquakes, we came across several senior citizens, whose lives have been turned upside down due to the destruction. As elders need a sense of security, a social circle and some involvement in social and religious activities, this project has made its mission to create an environment where senior citizens can go about their lives normally. The objectives in this project entail providing a home to old people displaced by the earthquake, possibly constructing a place of worship and providing psychological counseling to the senior citizens.

Please support us in our endeavor as this project can only be a successful one with your trust and support. Help Senior Citizens of Nepal

BLPH team visited some of the affected places in Nepal, where people require lot more attention in whichever possible support any organization can do. These people are scared not only because of aftershocks, its killing them knowing that what they are going to do next, where are they going to live, the debris everywhere is not easy to remove with the weaker infrastructure.

We were totally broke on seeing the conditions, no school left specially in Sindhupalchok, dolkha, Barpak etc.. Old Citizens were mostly affected. Its limitless number of families who require utmost care, there are many stories where we found that only survival are kids or old citizens and there are many in numbers. BLPH team is trying its best to bring them forward and tell their stories to the world.

Please support BLPH’s own special campaign will provide us the confidence to reach those untold stories, facilitate platform and bringing in NEW HOPE to Nepal Most Affected Communities.
