Parkinson’s Patient Needs Battery

Donation protected
I am writing this on behalf of a 57-year-old gentleman who is in urgent need of a lifesaving medical device.  His name is Salim Lakhder from Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria.  With the support of his community and my community here, we are thinking outside the box to exhaust all possibilities to help him.  Salim suffers from Parkinson’s.  He had a battery placed in his chest during DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery to enable him to eat, walk, and live an independent life.  The battery needs to be replaced and he is currently incapacitated without it  working.  If he does not get this battery his health will decline much faster and Parkinson’s is a terminal disease.  His body will atrophy and he will suffer from extreme pain. Please watch a real life testimonial and you will understand better what I am talking about:   https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=astED5bSQX8

I am making a plea to help get donations because 4 years ago my father went through the same horrible situation. Suffering from Parkinson, his battery needed to be replaced.  I saw my own father go from independent, to needing care in every aspect of his daily life.  Accepting this disease is hard enough but accepting the loss of mobility as a result of a dead battery is unimaginable. All that stands in the way is funding.  We were able to organize family resources to get my Dad a new battery and he drastically improved, back to enjoying his life and family.

Salim is a kind and gentle person.  He has helped many people during his life and done many good deeds.  We are spreading this message in hopes of returning him to his life so he can continue to be an active part of his community.  Salim’s support group is asking for any small donation to help his family get his mobility back.  It is so heartbreaking to see life go by and know Salim struggles when a battery made by Medtronic exists that can restore his independence.  If anyone has ideas or resources for us to check into, please share with us.

Please help in any way you are able.  No donation is too small and it is amazing how collaborative efforts combined can move mountains.  Thank you for reading, please like and share.  If we are sadly unable to reach this goal, all funds will go to Salim Lakhder and his family for his continuing care but we are praying instead that donations exceeding these costs will go to the CHU de Grenoble Hospital Michallon towards Parkinson ’s disease research. Thank you!
