Update from Jimmy:
"hello everyone it Jimmy, "WOW" what a journey it has been so far. first, thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and well wishes i greatly appreciate them all!! i'm sure everyone is up to speed that i am home now and lovin every minute of it let me tell you. the surgery went well but more extensive then the surgeons had initially anticipated, the tumors were the size of half dollars round and deeper into my jaw then expected, which in turn i lost 10 to 12 of my bottom teeth "yee-hawww", seriously, if they had to remove them all i wouldnt give a crap. Moday evening while one of the surgeons was makin his rounds he discovered an infection in the incision where they removed 60 lymph nodes by the way and goes from ear to ear, the surgeon began what i and robin would like to call emergency surgery without being knocked out to releive the pressure and drain the infection, that was the craziest and one of the most painful things i every had to do, i will leave the details for one on one conversations, so that delayed my release from the hospital two additional days. On a good note when we met with the surgeon last Friday he said nothing is 100% conclusive until he reviews the entire pathology report, but it there is a good chance i may not need any follow up radiation or chemotherapy!!! We are supposed to go to Jax this friday if not definetly next friday, i will let you guys know how that goes as soon as we get back from the appt. I currently am on a strict dietary liquid diet for the next couple of weeks because of all the reconstructive surgery in my mouth and it is difficult to talk. Im getting better every day but still get tired quickly, lots of recovery to go but if thing keep going the way they are I will be just fine. Speakin of tired Im gonna go lay down now. Thanks again and Love you all!!! Talk to everyone soon and have a Blessed Day!!"
Sorry for not updating last night but Dave and I got home so late!
Jimmy was so happy to see us. He was in good spirits and joking around with us. The nurses got him up and walking around twice yesterday (which is amazing) and he is making lots and lots of progress. Talked to Robin this morning and she says they are talking about sending him home tomorrow or Wednesday! So keep up those positive thoughts and prayers because they're so obviously helping!
I just heard from Robin. Jimmy is out of surgery now and the doctors said he did very well. Hooray!
She hasn't been able to see him yet but will be able to do so soon. I will talk to her again later this evening for another update and will keep all of you informed!
Good morning, everyone! Tara here~
Talked to Robin this morning and came here for the update! They both really, really enjoyed all the well-wishes and prayers and are so touched and grateful!
Jimmy went into surgery about 7:45 this morning and the doctors are saying it will take about 6 to 8 hours. Robin is there in the hospital and Jimmy's mom is down from NJ so he's got two of the strongest women in his corner already! Keep the prayers up and I will update again as soon as I can!

Update quote from Robin & Jimmy:
"Hello again to all!! We had a safe trip to and from Shands today.
Met with whole group of doc's and surgeons referred to as The Tumor Board. Every Tuesday they convene to discuss a few different patients and how to best treat each individual. After the meeting all, 6-7 medical professionals walk through and talk to each patient!!! WOW!
They went over their surgical plan for Jimmy again-they will remove area where tumor or tumors are located(under tongue) in floor of mouth. They will then reconstruct that area with skin and blood vessels from under-side of wrist. The wrist area will be grafted with skin from under-side of upper arm. They will also be making long incision on outside of neck, where necessary, to remove a large number of lymph nodes from both sides!!! The nodes will ALL be examined under microscope to ensure no cancer cells made it that far. If the Pathologist's do find anything then radiation would be required.
Surgery is scheduled for next Thursday 3/7. Will be in hospital for about a week. One of the surgeons sat with Jimmy and I and answered lots of questions for us. He was very patient
and attentive. He told us that Jimmy will handle surgery and recovery very well, since he is young and healthy for the most part. All and all it was a great day!
Thank you again for caring about us so much!!! We appreciate each and every one of you. Jimmy and Robin
BTW, Jimmy gained 2-3lbs since we were last @ Shands!!! WOOOHOOO!!! It was the SOUP!!!
Goodnight ALL ♥ "
The support of friends, family, and perfect strangers is, well, perfectly amazing to me. I put a call out for item donations so I can run a charity sale on my facebook page. The response has been awesome! I will be auctioning off and selling donated items with all proceeds to go to Jimmy and Robin and the kids. The sale is tentatively set to start on March 15th, just in time for Jimmy's birthday. If you have any items you'd like to donate for the sale, message me here for an address to send the stuff. If you know someone you think might want to donate an item (or buy an item) please share this with them. And thank you from the bottom of ALL of our hearts!
Robin here(: I want thank you for ALL of the love and support given thus far. We have no income and no insurance so every little bit is helpful and much appreciated! Jimmy received a cancer diagnosis for Valentine's Day this year):
He has oral Stage 3 Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
We traveled to Shand's Hospital-Jacksonville this past Friday. The doctors there want to do surgery ASAP. This operation will be extensive, they will be removing the floor of his mouth under tongue and then reconstructing the area with skin and blood vessel from his forearm. They will also be removing lymph nodes from neck area and examining them to see if addt. treatment will be needed, like radiation. He will require speach therapy and extensive rehabilitation! He has appt. tomorrow for CAT scan and some blood work and another appt. @ Shands next Tues. 2/26.
I will do my very best to keep everyone informed. He is experiencing a lot of pain right now and its difficult for him to talk or eat. Cancer is a terrible thing and I can see his condition deteriorate more and more each day!! I am making him as comfortable as I can but I want him better!
Once again, Love and appreciation to ALL. We couldn't do this without you!!
Hey everybody, my best friend's husband Jimmy (our brother-in-law, by the way) has just been diagnosed with cancer. He is their breadwinner and sadly, they are uninsured. We all know that positive thinking is one of the best things you can do to fight cancer, so I'm trying to help them raise some funds so they will worry less and he can focus on fighting it.
I set a slightly lofty goal of $10,000 because I know they are going to need it for hospital bills. I also know how hard times are for everyone. But please, even $1 or $5 will help them to buy some groceries or to pay a light bill. If you can't spare the financial help, I totally understand, and would greatly appreciate it if you'd pass this link on or add them to your prayers. Thank you so much!
