Hi everyone, Jalisa, Briana and I (Amber) have been friends with Kym for little over a year. She is one of the most caring people you will ever know. She frequently takes care of everyone else before taking care of herself. Now we need to help take care of her.
Kym has been battling a multitude of health problems which have baffled her doctors. So far Kym has had two bone marrow biopsies within the last six months, numerous blood tests, CTs, MRIs and doctors visits all over the metro area. Her Oncologist even called her a mystery patient. She has experienced multiple symptoms for different diseases including leukemia, lupus and others but has yet to receive a definitive diagnosis. What we do know is that she has had fluctuating lymphocytes that tend to be very high and a slew of gastrointestinal issues. Recently she had to have her lingual tonsils taken out due to recurrent infection. She has complied with everything her doctors have asked of her, but at this point, they are stumped. She has been instructed to receive further diagnostic tests and exams at either the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN or Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. This is where we come in.
With all of her health issues and time off for doctors visits and tests, Kym has exhausted her PTO. Regardless of which facility Kym is ultimately sent to, she will need to stay for a minimum of one week, possibly longer. Since she is out of PTO, she will be losing income she desperately needs to keep up with her medical bills, living and family expenses. She still has just over $2000 left in her out of pocket for her insurance. Since both clinics are out of network for her, she will be responsible for 50-70% of her exams and testing while she is there. We are also estimating $300-$500 for gas and approximately $99-$135 or more per night for her hotel stay. We are hoping to raise $6500 to aide Kym in her desperate search for a diagnosis so she find the right treatment to get her back on the path to good health.
