Dear family, friends and Next Great Baker fans, As many of you found out on episode 2 of the “Next Great Baker” on TLC. Our beloved James Brown gracefully bowed out of the competition so that he can address a major health issue he is facing.
James had gradually been losing his hearing and when he finally went to get it checked out they discovered he had a brain tumor. It is not cancerous but does require James to undergo brain surgery to have it removed.
James owns “Brown’s Bakery” located in Kentucky. As a small business owner he wears many hats and when a small business owner is out of commission so is their shop. I am hoping to collect enough funds to help him keep “Hope” alive... James has so much on his plate just worrying about his up coming surgery, his 3 little children and the serious side effects that may arise from the surgery such as death, stoke and facial paralysis. The absolute last thing I want him to worry about is Money.
Can you please help? No amount is too small, If only every fan from the "Next Great Baker” Facebook Page would donate as little as $1.00, James would have more than enough funds to help his business get back on track when he returns to work after his recovery process.

Sounds like James has what I had. It's called an acoustic neuroma, and it mainly affects your hearing, although it can affect your speech and eyes (not sight loss) as well. He may have slurred speech for awhile, and which ever side the tumor is on, those eye muscles may be weak. I had my surgery a little over 3 1/2 years ago. After some home physical therapy learning to balance and strengthening my facial muscials, and 8 weeks off from work, I'm well. I'm sure he has great doctors who will take good care of him and tell him what he needs to do to get himself well. As a result of this surgery, I'm deaf in my left ear, but that's a small price to pay.

I also had a benign brain tumor that was taking away my vision in my right eye due to the tumor compressing and growing into and around essentially strangling my right optic nerve. The vision loss is also permanent and I thank God that it wasn't cancer and I am a brain tumor survivor! I was wondering what type of tumor James had? Could it have been a meningioma? That's what I had. It was in a bad location so it had to be removed. I also am keeping he and his family in my prayers. It was very hard on me and my family, but the prayer chains going all over the World helped me stay positive. Ironically 2 years before my tumor my husband had a brain aneurysm. I was told he would be in the hospital 2-3 months and have disabilities "if" he made it. Again through prayer and keeping a positive outlook, my husband walked out of the hospital in 12 days after 2 surgeries. One to clamp the bleed and a 2nd for a shunt to drain the excess fluid. We are miracles and with all the prayers, James, you will be too! Thanks Letty for setting this site up. When I recover from Christmas I will try and make a donation. God Bless all of you who have prayed and donated for James!

I just watched your last episode on "Next Great Baker." My husband, daughter, and I were moved to tears at your farewell. What you are going through is incredible. We wish you the best of luck, the best doctors, and all our love and prayers. My daughter wants to work for Buddy when she grows up... I'm thinking she would LOVE to work for you. Keep at it and she'll be practicing!!!

I broke down into tears when I saw this episode and found out about James. I only wish that I could go tell him myself about my past experience, and that God is with him. God saved me from a Brain tumor years ago, and He could absolutely do the same for James! Thank you for doing this. Letty. Mainly for James, but also for giving me a chance to give back. God bless you James; you are in my prayers!
