My nephew Brandon was in a horrible car accident on February 21. He was in a car with five of his friends driving home, when they could not stop at an intersection due to the weather conditions, and were hit by a tractor trailer. There was no alcohol involved, the girl that was driving was the designated driver.

One of the girls that was thrown out of the car was so severely injured, she passed away the next day. We are so sad for her parents. Brandon was also thrown out of the rear of the car, despite the fact that he wore seatbelts. That's how hard theimpact was. He sustained life threatening injuries, including severe head traume, and was taken via mercy flight to the University of Rochester Medical Center. We still don't know the long-term impact of the injuries, right now we are just taking it one day at a time. The brain swelling is down, and he is showing first signs of trying to communicate.
This is Brandon at ... well I don't know, probably e or so. Now he is is 21. He has his whole life ahead of him. But we already know that once he recovers (not if), he will have a long road to travel. He may need to relearn many things that we all take for granted. it will be a long, hard, and expensive road for his parents.
I am starting this campaign to try to help his parents get through all this hardship, to help them with medical bills, transportation (my sister Karin, Brandon's Mom, lives in Seattle), help with hotel costs for my sister Karin, so she can stay near him in Rochester ... all the little things that add up when you have a loved on that is so severely injured.
I want my nephew to have every opportunity to get better, to get the best possible treatment to overcome these hurdles that fate has put in his way. He is a wonderful young man, caring, he adores his mother and his sisters (here you see him with his sister Samantha).
I just want him to have a chance to live his life, and be the happy, gentle, and loving person again that he was before this accident. I am asking for all your help in getting him there.
