BUILD SCHOOLS IN GUATEMALA

Donation protected
Hello, awesome people! My name is Nneka, and I'd like to thank you for checking out my GoFundMe page dedicated to raising money to send my son (Jalen, 13), daughter (JaDay, 11) and myself to San Martin Jilotepeque, Chimaltenango, Guatemala from November 23, 2015 until November 29, 2015, where we will be constructing Bottle Schools for children in need of access to education.

As you all know, education is the foundation for anyone to thrive in this world, and there are places on this planet where people don't have access to this very basic need. Think about it! People who don't have access to something as basic as elementary school! Shouldn't that be an outdated issue in 2015? If you answered yes, and I know you did, I humbly ask you to continue reading.

Why Bottle Schools...

Bottle schools are an awesome way to recycle, as the bottles themselves have been discarded and we then fill them with inorganic trash as a way to help clean the neighborhoods. The construction itself consists of us forming walls with chicken wire and cement, ultimately constructing a classroom where the children will be able to learn and expand their horizons.

Why we are volunteering...

Giving back is something that I've instilled in my children from the time they were tiny tots, and I believe volunteering our time to help others in need will help them to build strong character that will carry on into their adulthood, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

Friends and family, at this time I humbly ask for assistance in making a difference in the lives of the children in Guatemala by making a contribution toward our trip. Your contributions, in any amount are greatly appreciated!

Where the money goes...

A large part of the money goes to cover the costs each volunteer incurs such as room, board, transportation, guides, admission costs, supplies on the trip, potable water, etc. A portion of the money is spent to offset the administrative costs, overhead, and expenses of our charity partner so that 100% of our volunteers’ donations go directly to the charity. Any leftover money is used to help expand the program.

This VolunTour is run in collaboration with and sponsored by Serve the World Today LLC and Hug It Forward.

Hug It Forward is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that supports and empowers communities in Guatemala by building bottle schools with trash-stuffed plastic soda bottles. Visit Hug It Forward for more information.

I'd like to thank you all for your contributions, and for sharing the opportunity to give back with others.

Together, we will definitely make a difference!!
