Glory Riddle Memorial Scholarship

We all have hopes and dreams for our children.  Unfortunatly, those hopes and dreams can't always come to fruition.  That's when we make new hopes and dreams, to keep their memory alive.

For everyone that followed our story, and those just learning about it who want to help:

Glory Alice Riddle was born March 2nd, 2015.  She went home to be with Jesus due to Sudden Unexplained Infant Death Syndrome on May 4, 2015.  Our lives will never be the same.

In June, we were blessed to meet an angel here on earth, Kayla Lane, that remembered our Baby Glory, through a one chance meeting at West Side Cafe.  Our story soon traveled the world, and touched many lives.  You can view the original Facebook post that started it all here: Random Act of Kindness

Also a few of the news reports that followed:

Many sleepless nights ensued.  My family wondered what we could do, what our Angel Glory could do, for Kayla and all of the wonderful employees at West Side Cafe.  Once we learned that Kayla was studying to become a teacher, and paid for our meal and many others out of her own pocket, we realized that it was her time to be blessed.  Not only her time, but all of the other college bound students at West Side Cafe touching the lives of so many.

Gathering Glory's things one day after her passing, I came upon a little onesie of hers.

Realizing that we would never be able to start a college fund for Glory, I knew that I wanted to started a Scholarship program in her honor.

"According to the College Board, the average cost of tuition and fees for the 2014-2015 school year was $31,231 at private colleges, $9,139 for state residents at public colleges, and $22,958 for out-of-state residents attending public universities."  That's a lot of money for anyone, much less a waitress trying to work a full time job and attend college.

We would like to award at least 5 scholarships totaling
$4,000 each, but if we do not meet that goal, we would consider anything a blessing.  If we exceed our goal, extra scholarships will be able to be awarded!

Help us continue Glory's legacy through the Glory Riddle Memorial Scholarship and honor the West Side Cafe employees.  These wonderful people are our future, the ones studying to teach our children as well as going into the health care and various other fields to make a difference in this world.

Please take the time to read a note that I requested from the owner of West Side Cafe, Tracey Sanford:

"Shaun and Debbie Riddle were the new proud parents of baby Glory, until she suddenly and tragically passed away this spring.  But their grief was considerable lifted by an act of of kindness from Kayla Lane, a waitress at the West Side Cafe in Fort Worth, Texas.  This even quickly went viral on Yahoo and all the national news outlets, and even several international media venues.

People from all over the world were touched by this event, and it brought solace to Shaun and Debbie for the beautiful legacy of kindness and love it brought to the memory of Glory.

But Shaun and Debbie soon realized that Kayla's qualities of selfless generosity and kindness were common characteristic among so many of the staff at this local Cafe.  So Shaun and Debbie decided to start a scholarship fund, in memory of Glory.  This would be for the deserving staff members at this establishment, that have brought so much light into their lives, and the lives of so many others over the years."

Thank you ALL, and God Bless!
