In Memory of Kane

Donation protected
***Another announcement: Almost $2,000 in 12 hours! You guys are amazing.

*Saturday night there will be a ceremony in honor of Kane at the OHS football field at 6pm. There will be a candle lighting and lantern release, so please arrive at 5:45 and pair with a friend to release a lantern. Bringing candles, lighters, matches and warm clothes. There will be a prayer and a few vocalists. A great opportunity to support your friends, community, Amanda and Kane's family.

Part of the funds raised will go towards paying for the lanterns! Please continue to spread the word and donate.

Thank you again. Xo

1/21 ***Another update! I've spoken with someone from Kane's family and they have decided to make a football scholarship in his name with the Oneida Boosters Club. They have graciously decided that all donations will go to the Kane Buss Football Scholarship Fund so that "Kane will always be a part of everyone". Please continue to support! Thank you so much to all the generous donors already.

1/20 *** Change in plans!

I am overwhelmed and so excited by how fast people were willing tThe o donate. Within 45 minutes we have more than enough to pay for a flower arrangement from the Class of 2013. As per request of many of Kane's friends - we think it's best to now open this to the public to raise as much as we can for Kane's family to help with funeral expenses, etc. Share, give what you can, spread the love! Thank you so much.

Original post:

Hi guys.

I was hoping the first time I had to contact everyone from our class would be for our ten year class reunion. It saddens me that instead it is due to the loss of our classmate, Kane. I'm sure many of you including myself never imagined losing someone from our class this early. I know this is a tough and scary situation for everyone, but I wanted to first send my condolences to all of Kane's friends and teammates who knew him so well and are feeling the loss of him deeply.

I thought it would be appropriate if our class did something for the family, and thought a great way to show we are thinking of them would be to pitch in to buy a flower arrangement (orange&blue) for his services from the Class of 2013.

This will be costly, so if those who are able to donate could give any amount from a buck to twenty, I'm sure his family would really appreciate it. If we go past the amount needed, then the rest of the money will be given to the family to help pay for the funeral expenses. Anything helps.

A reminder to everyone that calling hours are Friday 3-7 at Campbell Dean, and the funeral is Saturday at 1pm at St. Paul's Church on Sayles street.

I set the amount to the cost of the arrangement with tip included, but remember, the more we raise the more we can give to his family. Feel free to spread the word to anyone I may not have found on Facebook, or anyone else who would be willing to donate.

Once again, I am so sorry to those who lost a best friend. This will truly have an everlasting impact on our class. Be there for each other, try to laugh when remembering the good times, stay strong and never forget #31.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best wishes.
