Fitsme Fashion wants amputees to have clothing designed to provide fit, style, independence, and safety that can be ordered online to fit their limbs or prostheses.
www.FitsmeFashion.com offers luxurious pajamas (made with technologically advanced antimicrobial and sweat-wicking fabric designed by NASA scientist) for adults.
We hope many will pitch in to help us offer a wide range of clothing items: designs with both hidden and accent features to assist amputees with every day activities such as non-skid fabric in the sleeve to help raise a glass without hands, hidden zippers in the inseams of fashionable pants and jeans so they can be worn over a prosthetic leg, and magnetic closures. The more money we raise, the more clothing items we can offer.
Fitsme Fashion is winner of the UX Magazine 2014 international Design for Experience Award in the accessibility category for an armless, magnetically closing shirt that allows quick independent dressing for amputees while providing a never-before-seen fabulous look.
As owner and CEO, I have an MBA from Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management and over 40 years of seamstress experience. My dream is to have many fashion designers working on this issue and to offer much needed, well-fitting coats, formal wear and children's clothing. All this takes donations and awareness. So please, spread the word!
There are over 30 million people living with limb loss worldwide - veterans and victims of trauma, accident or disease. One in 200 people in the US will lose a limb in their lifetime. 500 amputations occur daily in the US. Purchasing fashionable clothes online that fit people's bodies or prostheses is not an option until we make it one. Help us change the world for millions of deserving people.
