Jordan's Brain Cancer Support

Donation protected
This is Jordan Overcast!  Here is her story as events unfolded and told by her Grandmother Donna.  Jordan was a vibrant sweet active little girl until Feb. 2, 2010. She was rushed to Children's Mercy Hospital because not being able to walk without falling and vomiting and her left eye had gone crazy. Two hours after arriving we found out she had a rare malignant massive brain tumor. The tumor layed and was embedded in the brain tissue and on the stem. Jordan had surgery on Feb. 3rd and many more setbacks since that day. She has undergone chemo for several months and again last week (July 26th and 29th) she had two more surgeries. She will be starting radiation shortly for six weeks everyday. Jordan needs all of you to help her fight the good fight. Our family needs your strength. Thank you for joining the army of "Prayers for baby Jordan". God bless!!! (Jordan turned two on March 24th) By the way with the prayers and Jordan's determination she will be a vibrant little girl once again. She brings so much hope and joy to all that know her.Oct 2010 Jordan finished up her 9weeks of radiation and has again started walking. She is going to need braces and special shoes because she is now walking on the insides of her feet which causes some instability with walking. SHe has been back in the hospital because of a staff infection in her ear. (Believe it or not) The ENT doctors want to take out her tonsils and adnoids but the Oncologist does not think it's a good idea right now. SHe will have another MRI on the 18th of November and at that time the doctor's will meet and decide what is best. Lots of ups and downs still but we have Jordan here and she smiles with every hurdle that comes her way. Jordan has finally started gaining weight. She is now up to 22.4 pounds. We made a decision to take her off the feeding tube because all she would do is vomit and wasn't gaining any weight. She weighed 18 pounds when we did that about a month and a half ago and she now weighs 22.4 pounds today (2/8/11) Praise God! Jordan will have another brain scan on Feb. 15th, 2011. We will meet with the doctors shortly after to get the results. This little girl has been through so much since Feb. 2, 2010 and has fought hard and never looses her smile or will to live. The inspiration that she gives me and others around her and something that can only come from our Lord Jesus Christ. We were told that Jordan may not make it to this point because it was so far advanced and they could only remove 75% of the tumor. She learned how to walk for the third time and she is now talking again (still have a ways understanding everything she is saying but she is talking) She is very intelligent for her age and especially for everything she has been through. A Miracle was given to us on June 17th, 2010. I know it and she knows it and everyone that meets her knows it! God is good and we thank all of you for your prayers, love and thoughts... On Feb. 15th everyone will wear their "Fight like a girl" tshirts honoring Jordan and to help fight against Childhood Cancer... Updates to come after her brain scan....Jordan turns 3 on March 24th, 2011... I also praise God each and every day for the time that I do have with Jordan. It doesn't matter if it's for an hour, a day or 10 years , I know that God has given us more time with her for a reason and I will cherish her and learn from her. The strength and courage and hope that she displays each and everyday gives me the ability to get up in the morning without complaining... Lord thank you for Jordan! On March 24th Jordan turned 3 (which beat all odds say the doctor's) On March 27th a big birthday bash was thrown in Jordan's honor. Fit for a princess. Tina and Diamond Coffey were kind enough to let us bring it to there restaurant (Diamond Rays in Harrisonville) besides all the greeting birthday cards she recieved in the mail there were also 108 people that came to her party. Amazing and blessed is all I can say!!! Jordan has been doing really well and learning to talk so much better and just impresses me with her strength and her beautiful soul. Jordan will have another brain scan on May 16th, 2011. May 5th, Jordan has been complaining about her head hurting. We are not gonna panic.... March 19th, 2011 we just got the news back on Jordan's tests. It is not the news we wanted to hear... The tumor is back and the cyst and bigger than the first time. Doctor's say surgery cannot be done at this time because it is only a 50/50 chance of being a vegetable or coming out of it alive. A heavy heart writes this but I also have to keep my head on straight and continue to give it over to God. TRUST IN HIM! Jordan you can do this and we will all be here with you!!! God bless you my angel. Jordan is taking chemo by mouth at home. She is on it 21 days and 7 days off and then 21 days and 7 days off. They will do another brain scan to see if this will even slow the growth of the tumor down. In Gods will be done!
This chemo regiment lasted 18 months. They ended up taking her off of it because she was now susceptible to other cancers.  They continued to watch her every three months with scans and blood work.
Jordan has been hospitalized many different times  over the years for shunts being blocked or pseudo cysts.
Her tonsils need to come out badly and the specialists were just making arrangements to start working on plans to do it. They said,  she is a complicated case and it's not something they could just go in and do. She has a very small airway and other things factor into it.

Fast forward four years.  Until this past Friday, March 27, 2015 Jordan had been stable, yet in and out of the hospital for numerous infections and sickness.  A new tumor was discovered on a different part of her brain.  As Jordan prepares for surgery next, her mother and grandmother are in need of financial support.  Although they won't ask for help, they certainly need it.  Thank you!
