The Elliott Elementary PTO 2012-2013 mission is to further technology in our children's classrooms. Elliott's students have only a small amount of computer time each week "“ an hour and a half or less. To better prepare our students for our fast-paced technological world, and to simply increase the ease and fun of learning, we are setting a goal of buying 40 Chromebooks to further our technology brigade! Help us prepare our students to be college ready and equipped for future expectations, as it is our responsibility to teach them to be technological learners in core subject areas and with the web in general. (And your donation is tax deductible! We will email you a receipt.*)
We have 16 classrooms here at Elliott, with over 360 students. We currently have 6 classrooms with 4 desktop computers each. Unfortunately, the district budget stops there. With your help, purchasing 40 more computers will give each of the remaining classes 4 each to "own." And, with 40 Chromebooks, we have the option of moving them around and sharing them as needed!
Chromebooks will create a lab within the classroom. They can be used during all subject areas. They will be used to enhance the everyday instruction and provide enrichment opportunities for all students. Student use will be both teacher-guided and independent. Our main goal is to use them with the intent of improving academic achievement.
The district's technology team will support these devices, and they will be used for many years "“ without the need for constant upgrades. Another plus of the Chromebook is all the available apps! Many are FREE! This computer was designed for education "“ and applications are available in all subject areas, as well as for behavioral encouragement. They make learning fun and exciting!
Why are we only asking for 40? We're starting small. Our ultimate goal is for every child to have access to a computer, every day. Even with just 4 computers in each class, "tech time" for all of our students will double, triple, or even quadruple each school week. Once we have the first 40 and you see the results, we know you'll be excited to help us reach our ultimate goal of a computer for each child!

Who am I?
As a parent of 3 children at Elliott and a member of the Elliott PTO, I created this page to increase awareness of our fundraising needs. All donations go directly to Elliott Elementary.
