Downtown Dog Rescue’s Shelter Intervention Program at the South Los Angeles Shelter has prevented more than 3,800 pets from entering the shelter by asking families ready to surrender their pet one simple question: “How can we help you keep your pet?”
By offering services such as: free spay/neuter; medical care; dog and cat food; paying pet deposits; building dog runs; repairing fences; and rehoming pets from one loving home to another, we have made a significant impact on reducing the number of pets entering the shelter. For many families that live in one of the poorest communities in Los Angeles, Downtown Dog Rescue is offering a “hand up” approach and NOT a “hand out”. We are helping forever change the family tree when it comes to committing to a pet.
With your donation and support, together we can save more lives and make an impact in our community! If we can get 1000 supporters like you to donate at least $10, we reach our goal and can assist more pet owners.
$10 pays for a vaccine
$20 pays for a dog license
$50 pays for a medical exam and medication
$100 pays a spay/neuter surgery+vaccine+microchip
$200 pays for a pet deposit or a dog run
$500 pays for a more serious medical crisis: parvo or a broken bone
