D2K Cycle 2015 for Motor Neurone

Let me introduce myself, my name is Paul Lannon and I am just like any other guy you might pass in the street, to look at me you would say I was a healthy 44 year old. However, I hide a big difference I have been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

For those who do not know what Motor Neurone (MND) is; it is a Neurological disease that involves your immune system killing off the neurons that carry the messages from the Brain to the nervous system to activate the voluntary muscles such as arms and legs etc! Years ago it was called Creeping Paralysis and it is currently an incurable terminal disease; with sufferers living on average between 3 and 5 years post diagnosis.

As you can imagine with such a fast progressing disease support is essential for those who have the condition, support is provided by the HSC and more often than not by the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. The IMNDA is a non profit Charity that rely heavily on private funding and this is why we are running the D2K Cycle for the 3rd year on the 6th June 2015.

This 180km trip from Dunleer to Kilkenny is going to be a great event as always to raise much needed funds to help those with MND.

Thank you for any donation, big or small, it all makes a difference.
