Help The Snead Island Crab House

My name is Susie (Margaret) Trudeau. My parents, Clyde and Lessie McInnis, built and left behind their legacy, THE SNEAD ISLAND CRAB HOUSE. My father passed away on April 25,2014 at the amazing age of 99! He left behind a legacy that he built, and a dream that we, his family, promised to make come true.
Growing up with my brothers John and Steve at the crab house made life interesting to say the least! Oh if that dock could talk!!! The stories it could tell!
My dad always wanted to expand the business as well as to be able to serve the hungry fishermen and women that came by. He always said it would be great to be able to cook a fishermans catch or a hamburger or hot dog, because we all know how hungry one can get out on the water for a day!! The SI Crab House will need a little remodel and with the help of good friends and families, we can keep the dream alive.
Unfortunately, after the slow summer season, the passing of both parents in the past few years, and the expenses that came with celebrating their lives and their final resting places, the business that Clyde and Lessie built has fallen further into disrepair. It is in urgent need of repairs and the funds to make that happen.
My father left the local landmark to me with the promise that I would never sell it and would bring it back to it's original state. While the surrounding area has been commercialized and overbuilt, The Crab House has remained true to it's origins as the place to stop, get bait and stock up for a day on the water. Business has been a bit slow but the list of repairs that must be made right away keeps growing. We must reach out to our friends, neighbors and customers to help raise the funds needed to bring the Crab House back to what it's been in the past and to keep the business and the way of life my father entrusted to me up and running.
My son Tyler, Clydes grandson, sees to the everyday running of the shop. Together we want to fulfill my fathers wishes and keep the Crab House running so it can be passed on to my children, and on to future generations. And for our customers, who have made the stop at the Crab House, a tradition with their own children, stopping by to get candy and those famous peanuts!! The children, telling their parents and my dad how much better things tasted from the Crab House than any other store!! What precious memories have been made and shared with our customers and their children, our next generation of customers!
Thank you for helping me keep my promise to my dad, and to secure the future of my children. Special thanks to all the fishermen, that always stop by on their way out on the water, who are treated like family, and who wouldn't go out fishing without a stop by the Snead Island Crab House !
