Trip To MOLAA Art Museum De-Funded-HELP!
Meet Ms. Johnson of Room 5 and her 2nd/3rd grade class at Cogswell Elementary in El Monte, CA!
The class has been looking forward to their visit to the MOLAA (Modern of Latin American Art -- Los Angeles http://www.molaa.com/) to see the Frida Kahlo photography exhibit for a few months now. They've studied the infamous artist's history, artwork and even created self portraits in preperation for their impending field trip.
But then the worst happened: The funding (a grant Ms. Johnson applied and won) for the trip was taken away from them with little explanation.
We need YOUR help to supply funds for the students to still attend their field trip!
The students have worked incredibly hard preparing for this visit and depriving them attendance to see the late Frida Kahlo's great work would be a detriment to their motivation and devotion.
Most critically, it's often difficult for students and their families to supply the funds. Finally, the classroom/school budget has no room for such expedentures.
On a final and very cool note, this is the first time many will have ever visited an art musuem -- wouldn't it be great to give the gift of that kind of a lasting memory!
All we're asking is for the cost of bus and the admission for each student. Think of it as "adopting" a student's experience at about $20 each!
Here's the financial break down:
The bus = $375
MOLAA student admission ($8 x 29 students) = $232
Total: $607
To anyone that donates $20 or more, please supply your mailing address (via email) so students can send you a personal handwritten thank you note!
Thank you for any donation -- nothing is too small -- and helping in making Room 5's trip a reality!
**Any extra funds obtained will be used towards art project supplies, art library books and other in-classroom art related items**
