Coach Allen Harris' Medical Fund

Donation protected
Coach Allen Harris, 67 years old, retired as an educator and coach after 30 years of service to thousands of students and athletes at A. D. Harris Sixth Grade Center and Everitt Middle School.  Coach Harris suffered a stroke 15 years ago leaving him completely paralyzed on his right side and with mild speech issues.   He is otherwise mentally alert, but is in dire need of funds to replace an electric wheel chair that can safely handle his weight.

Baptist by faith, Allen is a life-long resident of Bay County and graduated from Bay High School in 1965 and the University of West Florida in 1970.    After college, Allen's passion for sports led him to become a sports writer for the Panama City News Herald in the early 1970's.

In addition to serving his community as an educator and coach in local schools, Allen became the athletic director of the Panama City Softball Program.  He directed the men's, women's, church, fast pitch and youth programs at Oakland Terrace Park for over ten years.  During these ten years, Allen was responsible for the introduction of world class softball to Panama City and Northwest Florida.  Many of the men and women who played in these tournaments are represented in the National Softball Hall of Fames.

Allen's happiest moments are spent watching birds eat from their bird feeders and cheering for his University of Alabama football team.  Throughout his life he's enjoyed playing softball, golfing, fishing and hunting.  He has been a loyal supporter to friends, an educator, a coach and mentor to many people and has always given himself freely to those in need.  Allen now needs your assistance and any donation will be greatly appreciated and used to improve the quality of Allen's life.

If you'd like to personally visit Allen, he's living at Sea Breeze Health Care, 1937 Jenks Ave,, Panama City, FL, room 217.  His contagious smile, blue eyes and big heart will surely make it worth your while.  He continues to be the same carefree and humorous "Buzz" that everyone has known and loved.
