No one fights alone!
Hello everyone, my name is Sharon Rocco and im starting this fundraiser to try and raise money for my amazing boyfriend Charles, our family and I who have been going through a veryrough financial and emotional spot in our life. we need help paying medical bills funeral expenses, bills alone.
On April 13, 2012 I was i a car accident on route 6& 11 where alot of damage was done to the right side of my body, nerve damage, sciatica, muscle spasms, &sarcoilitis are a few of the many damages done. I lost out on schooling and work and my finanical issues plummeted to the ground. I am currently going through therpay, shots in my back, and pain on a daily basis. Including the start of psuedo seizures. my life was a downward spiral.
It was in September of 2012 that i met the love of my life and his amazing family. Charles and his son Evan have been my motivation on every dark day. they were crazy and silly, random and fun. it is never a dull moment when we are together. i couldnt imagine my future without them by my side. they helped to pick me back up and gave me the motivatin to keep going. that year alone our home was condemned due to landlords negligence. we slept on floors, went from house to house, and lost most of what we had. March of 2013 my boyfriend and I took an emergency room visit for pains he was having in his lower abdomen. The news was worse then expected the doctors found a 5X5X8 mass resting on his kidneys and pushing them into his spine the doctor immediatly ordered a biopsy and a few days later he was hospitalized again in hopes of finding out what the mass was, the doctors were hopeful that it was benign.
the biopsy results turned our worst fears into reality, he was diagnosd with stage 2 carcinoma, seminoma testicular cancer. just another bump in the road but with our love we pushed throuh.
He started chemo and the effects really brought him down, yet he always remained strong and through every chemo treatment he walked back and forth to the treatment center. He never gave up. he loves to skateboard but hasnt had the strength to get on his board, the pain from the tumor keeps him on the couch 90% of the time. watching my hero, my best friend deterioate before my eyes broke my heart.. Evan is our motivation, his smile and laughs are what help us get through each day. He just wants Daddy all better so he can run around with him again! The beginning of August Charles had finished his chemo, in one month we would go back and see if the tumor was small enough to be taken out with surgery. Charles hair started growing back and little by little his energy did also. our hopes were high. then little by little his pain returned, i knew something wasnt right but tried to stay positive. the doctors said that the chemo should work, it would all be ok.
On September 8th we returned to see the surgeon. The news was worse then we expected. The first round of chemo didnt work, the tumor was wrapping around veins, and the main artery to his heart so surgery was out of the question, Stem cell transplantation, radiation, and chemo for 5 days 24 hrs a day was the next step in treatment. If he doesnt get the treatment the tumor will take over, and charles is going to lose his life. We were devastated. The doctors wanted to send him to The University of Pennsylvania, but they wouldnt accept his insurance. the doctors are continuing to look for another center that will. I did some investigating myself and found out that the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, was nationally ranked #1 so i made a call and now we are waiting to see if they can help.
As if Charles and I didnt have enough to figure out In August of this year, we both lost our fathers. Charles was devastated, his father was one of his best friends and a huge part of his life. Being next of kin meant figuring out what to do next and how to go about doing it. With no life insurance the balance or what we owe to lay his father to rest is well over 2,000. Money we dont have right now and with either of us working its impossible to come up with. Another bump in the road we thought, and then we realized we can do this alone any longer. we have so many expenses we have to come up with that the stress has brought a huge toll on us.
So here we are, we are asking for help because this battle is just to big for us to fight alone. we ask your help to be able to lay his father to rest, to be able to pay for the medical bills that we have to pay, and to be able to get Charles the help he needs to live, to have a future, and to be able to see his children grow up. Doesnt everyone deserve a second chance at life?
Thankyou for taking the time to hear our story, from the bottom of our hearts, words couldnt express our gratitude!
