Chad and Kelley's Tornado Fund

Donation protected
Chad Simmons and Kelley Hunter experienced every Midwesterner's worst nightmare on Saturday June 20th when Kelley looked out the window and said,  "A tornado is coming!" Within seconds, Chad and Kelley were literally flung through the air. Chad was knocked unconscious twice and when he came to the second time, heard Kelley's voice and made his way to her. He picked her up and carried her to the first vehicle that wasn't overturned or blocked and started towards town as their cell phones were lost during the storm. Chad did this with wood impaled in his hip and a foot that was smashed. They didn't go far before they found their path was blocked by a fallen tree. Luckily, a friend saw the storm was headed their way and found Chad and Kelley and called the ambulance. Chad had successful surgery on his foot this morning as the surgeon was able to piece the bones together and was able to save his toes. An update on his hip will be forthcoming as soon as I hear. Kelley has a fractured collarbone and possibly a broken hand or arm, there was too much swelling  to know for sure yet but she was released Saturday night and is recovering at her parent's home. Chad and Kelley are faced with significant out of pocket expenses as his injuries will require a large amount of time at home to heal. I received permission to start this account from Chad and Kelley via Sara, Chad's sister, so rest assured, this is an official account and all monies will go directly to Chad and Kelley. Chad and Kelley are extremely grateful for all of the friends and family who have been at the farm last night and today working to retrieve their personal items and for any funds that people wish to donate. Jake, Chad's son, was luckily with his mother, Samantha Blint, at the time of the storm and is not injured. Thank you to everyone for keeping the whole family in your thoughts and prayers!

Please, If you want to use my words about Chad and Kelley's ordeal and/or the picture, just ask. It's a little disheartening (and hurts my feelings) to see newspapers and others use it (And sometimes get info wrong and then use my name in their article)  without even a courtesy email or phone call. Thanks :-)
