Running To Beat Canine Lymphoma!

Tax deductible
On July 15-16, 2016, I am running for 24 hours at the Christmas in July race to raise money for the nonprofit Perseus Foundation to help dogs get T-Cell infusion therapy for Canine Lymphoma. Your donation is tax deductible!

How To Pledge or Donate, Plus Get Corgi Items as Rewards!

You can donate straight up any amount that you like, every little bit helps. Straight donations are preferred, but you can also pledge an amount per mile or hour that I run if you prefer. To pledge an amount, use the comments to make your pledge and then come back after the race to donate.  I will post reminders.

My race goal is to try to do the full 23-24 hours and hopefully at least 100k (about 62 miles).  I should get at least 50 miles and could get close to 100 if I have a particularly good day.

Bonus Rewards!

You can also get handcrafted rewards for higher donation amounts. Here are photos of what you can earn. These are handcrafted by me and are not yet for sale anywhere.

If you are a brand or blogger at the Blogpaws conference and saw my flyer, I have special rewards for you! Contact me for more information!

$50 Reward:  Corgilicious.com Mascot Stickers.

$75 Reward: Gold Foil Vinyl Corgi Stickers (Plus you get the $50 reward too)

Special $250 Reward (plus you get the $75 and $50 rewards too): Corgi Love Gold Foil Framed Art.

Why I am Doing This

In May 2015, my corgi Ty was diagnosed with Lymphoma. In our efforts to provide him the best care possible, we embarked on a journey of chemo. Ty is now in full remission, but most dogs relapse, often within 12-14 months after starting treatment.

A year later, in May 2016, we learned about the Canine T-Cell Project, a project funded by the nonprofit Perseus Foundation. This process is working to bring T-cell infusion therapy to dogs with lymphoma. The treatment offers the potential for long lasting remission from the disease. Dogs enrolled also provide important data for research purposes.   Ty will be taking part in this!

The treatment is not cheap. The cost for each dog is roughly $3000-$5000, which is the cost of materials only. The people involved in the project are not making a profit or taking salary from it. Funds raised to support the project can allow more dogs to take part. Thus, while I made a large personal donation directly to the project ($3000), I have also chosen the Perseus Foundation as the recipient of my personal fundraising projects this year. I would like to see as many dogs as possible have the ability to receive this groundbreaking treatment.

Raising Money for The Perseus Foundation (tax deductible)

Any donations, large or small are greatly appreciated. Your help can mean the world to many dogs and their owners! Your donation goes directly to the Perseus Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and your donation is fully tax deductible.

More About T-Cell Infusion and Dr. Edmund Sullivan

Dr. Edmund Sullivan, DVM, in Bellingham, Washington. is the primary veterinarian behind the project. He is located at Bellingham Veterinary and Critical Care in Bellingham, WA .

T-Cell infusion is an immunotherapy procedure that consists of collecting blood from a dog diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma either early in their treatment with chemotherapy or when they are in remission after chemo. This blood is then sent to Dr. Sullivan's lab where T cells are harvested, modified to target cancer cells, and then multiplied. Those new cells are then sent back to the dog's local veterinarian or oncologist and are infused. They then go to work targeting cancer cells.

The treatment has had some great results, including long remission times and creating molecular remission in a chemotherapy resistant dog.
