Arts and Services Burglary Recovery

Arts & Services for Disabled in Long Beach was burglarized twice in three days last week. Thieves smashed a security glass door and stole several of our iPads and MacBooks. They came back two days later, smashed a large window, and stole a 46" TV and our Chromecast recording equipment. 

All these items are used daily to provide art and music therapy for our students with developmental and intellectual disabilities, who have cerebral palsy, autism, schizophrenia, epilepsy and seizure disorder, Down Syndrome and a wide array of related conditions.

The techology tools are used to create artwork, compose music, record stories and poetry, and also are used as communication aids for nonverbal students and as learning tools.

Our losses exceed $12,000, with repairs, replacement, and lost revenue due to closures. Our insurance will not cover the entire cost, nor will it compensate for lost revenues due to program closures. 

We are gratefully accepting contributions to help restore our program and replace the lost equipment. ASD is so grateful for the outpouring of care from our community after the break-ins.
