BulletproofEDU is an idea to create bulletproof workstations that can double as shields in the event of an active shooter. Previously, the procedure for an active shooter in a school was for children to hide under their desk or to get into a bunch in the furthermost corner of the room away from the door with the lights off. The issue with those procedures is they don't actually provide much security, with BulletproofEDU workstations students will be able to use their classroom tables as a shield. Our idea is to create workstations that will allow three students per table in a classroom, and lunch tables that will allow 20 students per table. These tables will be made from a lightweight bulletproof metal that will allow students of any age to be able to flip the table on its side in the event of an active shooter and use the top of the table as a shield.
Since 2013, there have been at least 150 school shootings in America- an average of nearly one a week. The question that parents have is how many more before laws are passed to prevent gun violence and save lives. BulletproofEDU believes that there needs to be some type of control over who is allowed to purchase and use such deadly weapons however, there is of course no "one law" that could prevent gun massacres any more than there is "one law" to prevent fatal car crashes- but we have taken necessary measures to provide safety in the event of a car crash.
We need your help in making our idea a reality so that we can start taking the necessary measures to protect our children, grandchild, nieces, nephews, and friends. Safety starts with a can, I can, You can, We can be safe.
Our goal is to have BulletproofEDU bulletproof workstations and lunch tables in at least one school by the start of the 2016 school year. By 2018 we want to have our bulletproof workstations and lunch tables in 100 schools(the average amount of schools in a school district)
BulletproofEDU is a work in progress, at this moment we are in the idea phase and need your help to get our idea off the ground so that we can create a prototype and get BulletproofEDU workstations and lunch tables in schools as soon as possible. What is important to us is the safety of our children and teachers.
