Hello!
-Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to view my "gofundme". I know that sounds kind of cliché but truly it means the world to me. My name is Matthew Gaffney and I am a Freshman, Finance Major at Morehouse College from Philadelphia, PA. I'm the youngest of three children to my great parents Gigi and Wayne Gaffney. Since I was a little kid I've always been infatuated with technology and the way it can not only connect the world but how it offers unique experiences to each and every person that uses it. I have also had a huge love for wristwatches. This interest peaked about 3 years ago when me and my family went to my aunt and uncles' house in Delaware for Christmas. My parents bought me a Casio wristwatch that year and i couldn't wait to throw it on. My uncle took notice of the watch and asked me if I was really into watches and I instantly told him I was. He told me he had to show me something and took me upstairs to show me his immense watch collection (which I had no Idea he had). As I stood there in shock with my jaw hitting the floor he looked at me and laughed. I glanced at all the Invicta watches before me and then he asked me to pick one. I turned to him in disbelief and I pointed at this Steel watch with a black band. He then picked it up and gave it to me and I jumped and shouted with excitement. It was a 1959 Russian Diver watch that til this day I still cherish. That is what propelled my interest into the smartwatch Industry.
-I think that there's a problem in the smartwatch industry and there is a lot to be desired. I have an idea for a smartwatch that will usher in a new era of funtioncality and technology brought to your wrist via multiple new, groundbreaking features. Also, after extensive research into the market and its' products I noticed there isn't a product out there that caters to women in anyway. Most smartwatches are bulky, cater to broad forearms and don't really give women a product they feel was made for them. I even tested this theory by running a survey of roughly 200 women in the city of Atlanta asking them if they felt there was a product on the market that caters to women. When the survey concluded I had about 76% of women that felt their needs were not met by the current products on the market. I then dived deeper into why those were their responses and now have an idea that alleviates that problem. The result of this was a roughly 40 page Business Plan that I have constructed.
-The funds I hope to gain from this crowdfund will all go to the production of a stellar prototype that I can then take to Investors. I already have the company with whom I will be partnering with to build this prototype, I am just searching for the funds to do so. Taking this prototype to investors will be able to give them a tangible product to see my vision and intrigue them to back my idea. I hope to try to raise the money for this prototype as soon as possible so that I can have a finished prototype by Spring 2017 and aim for the official release of my product to be Fall of 2017.
-The aquisition of the funds from both the investors and crowdfund will enable me to startup my company and provide all of you wonderful people with an amazing product that will do more than exceed your expectations. I want to provide you all with this product because I want you all to really feel like you're getting an experience with the product that cannot be replicated in anyway, thus, providing that unique feel to every customer. The most important piece of a company is the relationship they've built with their customers. Without the support of you guys, me and my idea are nothing.I want every single person that unselfishly donated towards my cause to know that you are contributing to the evolution and reinventing of the Wearable Tech. industry and you all give me the power to do just that.
