Save Back To Basics… Save Lives;
We see it on television and read about it every day blazoned across the front page of every newspaper in every major city in America… MURDER, GUNS, GANGS, VIOLENCE!! Our beloved Buffalo is no exception. Who is helping in the fight to SAVE LIVES in our cities?
Since its inception in 1994, the not- for- profit community minded organization, BACK TO BASICS Outreach Ministries, Inc., has been in the forefront of this battle. It’s an organization that is profoundly dedicated to providing services that improve the quality of life for residents in the City of Buffalo and surrounding communities. Its services address problems associated with substance abuse, gang violence, unemployment, prisoner re-entry, homelessness and youth development. Its mission is to serve the most vulnerable citizens of Buffalo with programs that improve their overall safety and quality of life.
Buffalo and the entire Western New York community just cannot afford to lose such a valuable asset as BACK TO BASICS.
Buffalo Mayor, Byron Brown, recently stated at the National Action Network conference on Homicides that “Even though we’ve experienced more shootings than normal for January, if not for the Buffalo Peacemakers and SNUG (Back To Basics Programs), there would be so much more violence on our city streets”.
In an effort to save and continue these outstanding programs, Back to Basics founder, Pastor James E. Giles, is now reaching out to the Western New York community for their support.
“For over 20-years, Back to Basics has been an effective shield, protecting children and families of all communities in our city from the harsh effects of drug use, gang violence and poor education systems” explained Pastor Giles.
A perfect example of the effectiveness of the Peacemakers program took place during one of Buffalo’s biggest and most heavily attended summertime events, the Italian Festival. The Peacemakers spotted a man with an illegal 9mm semi-automatic handgun. After reporting his suspicious behavior to police, the gun was confiscated, and the man arrested. No one was harmed and a catastrophe was possibly avoided.
This is just one of the hundreds of examples of how important this program is to the safety of our citizens.
Back to Basics and their Peacemakers and SNUG programs are now asking to the community for their help and support in an effort to continue these most valuable and necessary programs which they provide for Buffalo and Western New York.
