Art as therapy for those suffering
Donation protected
My Mom, who I share a name with passed away May 4th just 5 days before her 97th Birthday, which would have been today May 10th, 2019. My Mother was so proud of my accomplishments, she was my biggest fan.
My Mother was a wonderful kind and loving woman who also had a quest to help others. She crocheted blankets and scarves for the sick, disabled, homeless for those who had accidents and to those who were kind to her. I would box up the blankets and ship them out often with art supplies included, a book or other gifts she may have wanted to include.
I began Painting after the death of my fiance in the 9/11 attack after seeing a photograph of him jumping from the World Trade Center North tower. My doctor told me to find a hobby and I began painting. It helped me find soltice and some joy in life again and helped me through my grief and depression.
Over the years I became certified to teach painting. Through teaching I met many others who were also suffering from a tragedy, loss of a loved one, disability, depression or illness who also turned to art as therapy.
All fund money was and is used to provide free classes to those suffering. The fund money paid for supplies, my time was donated. In addition I sent boxes of art supplies to the disabled and needy in and out of the country for their use and fund money helped pay for shipping as well. All fund money was matched
by me. The supplies have helped so many and the recipients are very greatful for the help.
In honor of my beloved Mother donations in lieu of flowers or other gifts are welcome in her behalf. Thank you so much for helping me help others find joy and healing in art.
Thank you very much.
