My Amyloidosis Fund
Donation protected
Four years ago, I was diagnosed with a rare disease called Amyloidosis. At age 23, I was one of the youngest people in the country to be diagnosed with this.
The Amyloidosis is a rare disease that caused tumors to grow in my lungs, my nasal passage, and most noticeably, my vocal cords. In the following three years, I had 9 surgeries to help restore my voice and breathing. To this day, I still do not have either fully functioning. I am constantly sick as my body is always fighting these tumors.
Though my health insurance has covered a significant amount for me, this specialized disease has required me to travel to doctors across the country. On top of my travel expenses, I\'ve visited four hospitals at which each ran a battery of tests beyond the scope of my medical coverage.
Amyloidosis took more than just my health. It\'s robbed me of my youth and endless amount of money. I was in college at the time and was dropping classes whenever I had a surgery and could not attend class or keep up with the work. When I finally made it thru college, graduating 3 years later than I anticipated, I could not get a job because I couldn\'t speak. I tried to keep my dreams alive and my hopes high by trying to start an online business for myself - in the end, I failed and my investment was lost.
I know that my situation could be far worse and I appreciate every day I\'m alive, but the journey has been tough nontheless.
Now I am neck deep in bills, school loans, and can no longer afford the medical attention I need. So here I am today begging for help. No donation is too small and every penny helps more than you can imagine. Thank you all in advance.
