Help Tell America's WWII Stories

AMERICA IN WWII magazine needs your help to fulfill its mission:  telling the World War II stories of America's people for generations to come.

70 years ago, an entire generation of Americans turned their lives upside down to save our world. Violent regimes in Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan were bent on conquering and dominating the globe. But Americans and their allies stood fast against this tide of oppression. By winning World War II, they won a better future for the free world.

The stories of those ordinary Americans of World War II and their extraordinary deeds never fail to inspire new generations—to have courage, to keep going, to see beyond themselves, and to work together for important goals.

But for those stories to keep inspiring new generations, they have to be heard.

That’s where AMERICA IN WWII comes in. AMERICA IN WWII magazine is a labor of love founded by Jim and Heidi Kushlan, who started it from their dining room 10 years ago with crucial help from former coworkers.

Jim and Heidi were inspired by the true stories of World War II America that they heard from their moms and dads, aunts and uncles, and elderly friends. As niche magazine publishing professionals, they decided to use the magazine format to help others learn about the American experience in World War II.

If you’re proud of the stories of bravery and perseverance that are hallmarks of the WWII era — or if you, too, had family members who fought at the front or on the home front — then we need your help to fulfill our mission!

A Magazine, A Mission
AMERICA IN WWII  tells the story of America and her people in the Second World War—at the front and on the home front. Professionally edited and designed, this bimonthly print and digital magazine is packed with fascinating articles about the war, first-person stories from World War II people, vivid photos, the pop culture of 1940s America, and WWII-related travel and events.

AMERICA IN WWII is crafted to help people who weren’t around in the 1940s understand and connect with the important events of World War II, and with the experiences of people who lived through them. It educates and informs, in an enjoyable format.

You don’t have to be a military historian to read AMERICA IN WWII. It covers the whole experience of real people — WWII Americans — at the front and on the home front. It’s the ONLY magazine of its kind, and readers tell us they read it cover-to-cover. For them, opening an issue is like cracking open a time capsule. They discover what it was like to be an American in combat overseas, or working hard on the home front to support the war effort. They connect with the people who lived the history. Seeing It Through
After a decade of squeaking through the recession on a shoestring, AMERICA IN WWII needs your help. In order to make progress on our mission to educate and inform, we have to grow. To do that, we have to get the word out about our magazine to people who love America’s proud WWII heritage—and to give more and more people the opportunity to discover that heritage and be inspired by it. That requires funding over and above the cost of production.

Your support will help AMERICA IN WWII keep telling the stories of our nation’s people in their finest hour. Make a contribution today!
