First, Thank You for taking the interest and time to read or listen to what brought me to this point! I did not know about GFM untill Bubba Clem aka Bubba the Love Sponge was kind enough to take concern in my story!
I was grooming the radio crews pets & Bubba watched as we groomed his pup #Pookie in my mobile grooming van. He found out my delima and unfair situation after inquiring on how Adogable Pets business was doing. He suggested we start a GFM Campaign ...so here we are ! I have always been a huge fan of Bubba, for many years, because he is Real and Good People!
I am beyond grateful to all those people in my life who have helped me through this unwon battle, as of yet!

To explain my situation is tough, but here it is in the best way I can relate it. -This all happened so fast, so please relate any questions you may have!
I am Laura Rubin, I started my dog grooming business because I love animals and wanted to serve my community. I used my 401K retirement money plus my personal savings to get started. Only 3 months after the grand opening of my storefront, I found a lost dog in my neighborhood. Upon locating the owner (I will call him Fred), I asked about who was grooming his dog, and told him that I recently opened a dog grooming salon. Fred explained to me that he was working for another groomer prior to his retirement, and that he is really bored sitting home and would love to groom again. After he began working for me he explained that he was not actually retired but is receiving social security / disability and pleaded for me to pay him in cash. I felt so sorry for him that I agreed to accommodate him (for varying reasons I am unable to divulge due to litigation now), I kept receipts for the payments and kept him on as a subcontractor. I used a 1099 at the end of the tax year for his total payments. He never worked more than 30 hours per week for a total of 7 months.
When I learned that he has anger issues and was being cruel and rough with animals he was no longer in my employ. Less than 2 months later, I was served with two lawsuits, Federal wage and overtime lawsuit against myself personally and Adogable LLC. Fred claimed in his lawsuit that he had never been paid and that he worked in excess of 50 hours per week, including days that Adogable was not even open. I had 30 days to find a specialty small business labor attorney, to answer and defend this, had to pay a large retainer fee, and was then dragged into the legal system. Only to find out that Fred’s attorney is a personal friend of his and costing him next to nothing.
This fight to stay alive has lasted 2 years, huge legal fees, financial and physical strains making it very hard to keep this community based business going! I made numerous offers for settlement even though I did nothing wrong and owed him no money, just hoping that he would stop harassing my staff and I. All offers were refused. I have been depleted of money on numerous occasions throughout this process, and have been distraught with the possibility of losing everything that I have worked so hard for, over the last 20 years. I am now in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy strapped with a big monthly payment to bankruptcy trustees and am struggling to keep my business open. I did nothing wrong, only tried to help someone.
This GFM account for $51,000 is enough for me to payoff the bankruptcy through the trustee and continue to run my business, create jobs for honest hard working people, and serve the community.
