Canadians (and it’s even worse for our friends in the US) have enormous difficulties when it comes to affordable housing.
THE “PILOT” PROJECT
We wish to create a simple, yet elegant bungalow model to demonstrate to the general public, governments and non-profit organizations the benefits of building with shipping containers.
Location: Orleans, Ontario, Canada

Lot size: 33’ x 149’
The Structure
Intended to be a “show home”, this 3 ½ bedroom bungalow is ideal for growing families. Built from three 40ft. and two 20ft. containers, the house will look just like any other traditionally built home.
THE REQUEST
It can be difficult to raise funds for an innovative idea in the residential building industry. Traditional funding is almost non-existent and government grants are rare. Well, we the middle class and working class need to be represented. This is where your support comes in.

OUR SOLUTION
“Lower housing costs by standardizing designs and building residential structures using SHIPPING CONTAINERS.”
Shipping containers have been used as housing material for many decades and is popular in Europe, South America and Africa. So why have we North Americans been so slow to get onboard? Simply put, PRIDE… (Who would live in a metal box?) But with vision, it can be so much more and the benefits are profound.
• Shipping container structures can be disassembled & moved with relative ease
• The ecological footprint is significantly smaller compared to traditional building materials
• Their abundance makes for a low cost alternative to other modular systems
• They can be shipped virtually anywhere in the world by truck, rail, sea & even air
• Shipping container structures are assembled quicker than traditional constructions
• They are structurally stronger than “stick frame” homes.
We need to prove to CMHC, the “BIG 5” and other relevant institutions in the housing industry that shipping container homes should be considered at par with other construction methods.

Le financement traditionnel est quasiment non-existant et les octrois gouvernementaux sont rares. C’est ici que votre soutien devient important pour les gens ordinaires de la classe moyenne. Nous croyons fortement qu’à terme notre méthode de construction aura un gros impact sur la construction de loyers à prix modique.

“Abaisser le coût de construction d’une maison en standardisant les modèles et en utilisant des conteneurs de transport pour ériger les structures de ces résidences.”
Depuis des décennies, les conteneurs de transport sont utilisés comme matériel de construction et sont particulièrement populaires en Europe, en Afrique et en Amérique du Sud. Alors, pourquoi est-ce que l’Amérique du Nord a pris tant de temps à adopter ce concept? Il s’agit simplement d’une question de perception et de cliché. Par exemple, on se demande qui voudrait vivre dans une boîte de métal. Cependant, avec un peu d’ingéniosité et de créativité, on peut obtenir un beau bâtiment qui s’intègre bien dans un paysage urbain traditionnel et qui offre de multiples avantages.
