My friends-
It's that time of year again- summer. And like any wintersports athlete knows, summer is the time for finding a job, hitting the gym, and raising funds for the season to come. And, if we're lucky, getting to travel to someplace where it is winter, where we can keep doing what we love!
The year ahead is already riddled with challenges- the International Paralympic Committee has changed the regulated lengths and radii of our skis to the Women's FIS standards- meaning that the time-tested quivers we've spent so long filling are now useless and must be replaced completely. Failure to do so will mean that I cannot compete in the 2014-15 race season.
This summer also holds two opportunities for me to train on snow- in Mt. Hood, Oregon and Mt. Hotham, Victoria, Australia. Every year, we as Paralympic athletes attend the first race of the season before we've had time to train on snow. Participating in these two training opportunities late in the summer will have a huge positive impact on how I start my season- and if last year is any indication, it will give me a competitive edge.
My goal is high- $6,000. But with that money, I hope to purchase the equipment I need to be eligible for competition, and attend the two training opportunities available to me this summer. As always, I ask that you only give what you can. And if that amount is $0, that's okay! But please help spread the word by sharing this campaign on Facebook, through emails to family and friends who might be interested, or by word-of-mouth.
I wish you all a wonderful summer.
Love and Thanks,
Anna Beninati
