It is my honor to share with you why you should consider helping the Eynon Family.
My name is Robb Billups and we are from East Texas in the town of Tyler. My son graduated high school this past Saturday(May 31st) and we had a planned graduation party at 1pm for family and friends. Right after the party started my sister in law Caroline Eynon (pronounced “eye none”) got a call that her husband and children had been in a tragic accident and she needed to meet them at our local hospital.
Only thinking the worse, family members rushed Caroline to the hospital where she learned her husband of 20 years(May 20th was 20 year anniversary, this was his last post https://www.facebook.com/groups/1402826140005391/?ref=br_tf#!/photo.php?fbid=10202118287103488&set=a.10202118261822856.1073741825.1377253129&type=1&theater ) was killed instantly in the auto accident. They have 4 children together and 3 of them were in the accident. Keira (15) came in with a punctured lung, broken wrist and broken shoulder with many cuts all over. Ashlynn (8) came in with a severe head injury and a broken ankle and was unconscious. Aiden (5) came in with a leg injury, severe head injury and unconscious also.
Aiden was to be CareFlighted to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, TX but because of the weather they couldn’t fly so he was driven by ambulance to Dallas almost 100 miles away. Caroline rode in the ambulance with him because he was hurt the worse since he was placed in the back seat behind his father Tom. They predicted he would not make it. Ashlynn was put in an ambulance 10 minutes later headed to Dallas also accompanied by my wife Kelly. Keira remained at East Texas Medical Center.
After 2 days Aiden lost his life after he could not regain any brain activity. Ashlynn and Kiera are recovering right now as you are reading this.
Like most communities, it took the death of a young child and father to heart, but what happened next is what is amazing to all. As rumors flew through social media and brief conversations were concluded after receiving limited conversation, I decided to go to Facebook and set the facts straight so people could get the truth.
Before I tell you about Facebook I want to let you know about Tom. I have known Tom for almost 22 years. He was a very nice guy that always wanted to help and at his heart was always in the right place. His profession was a Chiropractor and he would give us “adjustments” at almost every family function. Here in East Texas, family gatherings are at least twice a month and can be crazy with 14 adults and over 30 grandchildren usually jam packed into one of our houses. Tom was the fun uncle to all the nieces and nephews. He had more energy and patience than any adult at all times. He would take sometimes 15 of them to a movie, get up at 6am and take them water skiing or just get on the ground and wrestle with the little ones. If there was ever a medical condition or a loss of a job or any concern, Tom would always offer money, time on the computer to research it or an encouraging call or text. If he heard you needed help moving or working on your house he just showed up without being asked. Tom was just one of those nice guys that always helped other people.
You are probably reading this going okay there are hundreds of people out there just like him, right? I thought so too until I saw a Facebook Page titled “Dr. Tom Eynon & Family” ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/1402826140005391/?ref=br_tf). This was going to be a platform where people could get good information and I was going to give it to them. When I joined the page there was roughly 119 people on it around Monday(June 1st) at 4:45pm. I posted the facts that could be reported and hit the enter button. The page went crazy. People from all over East Texas were starting to hear the news of the accident. My post had 1845 likes, 118 comments and 445 shares. The group grew from 119 people to well over 4400 people in less than 5 days. People couldn’t get enough of the story and this is why.
Tom was devout Christian man not by telling people this but by living it. People everywhere started sharing their stories about their encounters with Tom and they weren’t the generic “he is a great guy” comments but things like “he changed my life”, “he saved my business” and “helped me get off prescription pills”. They mentioned how he would do his work for free if a patient couldn’t pay because he was more concerned about getting them feeling better than how much he made. We always knew Tom was a good guy but he was a rock star in these people’s eyes. They proved it by a go fund account that was set up and in less than a week has raised over $88,000. People were making donations that didn’t know him but were touched by his story. Every time I would post something it would be shared hundreds of time. People really connected with my brother in law, Tom Eynon, not only because of the tragedy but because they genuinely loved this man and their family.
The funeral which happened on Friday (June 13th) drew more than 2000 people to share in the last goodbye of these two beloved individuals. The funeral, the story and the Facebook page has changed people forever in a good way.
Unfortunately the survivors, Caroline (his wife), Keira (15 year old), Kennedy (14 year old) and Ashlynn (8 year old) are left to survive without their sole income of Tom. His chiropractor business if not sold soon could result in a huge loss for everything he has put into it. He has a new building he purchased to move his practice into within the next 6 months and there will be medical bills in six digits easily.
We want Tom and Aiden’s story told. People need to hear that there are good Christian men out there can make a difference in a community. We think once you dive into the Facebook page and understand what Tom stood for and lived out you will help in the tough financial times ahead for this family. Caroline and the kids have lost so much and we don’t want them to suffer anymore. Please consider what you could give to help this family out who has done so much for other people.
