For almost two decades the Albany Bulb has been a refuge to those without refuge and and home for those who had none. This area, originally a landfill for refuse from construction projects in the Bay Area, was transformed into a community for over 70 houseless people, and an dreamland for artists to paint, craft, and sculpt. All this came to an end with the removal through bribery, threats, and harassment, of the Bulb population. Phil and Amber, two of the final residents, as well as three of their supporters are facing serious trumped up charges designed to keep them away from the Bulb. Any financial support will go a long way towards reclaiming the Bulb as a free space and fighting the efforts of the City of Albany to economically cleanse the area.
Pidgein has been released on their own recognizance and Elliot is being held until Friday, at which time we hope he will be released on his own recognizance. All other funds will go towards prisoner and legal support for other bulb supporters and residents, as well as general Bulb support. Thank you all!
