PhD on Violence to Children

I am currently six months into my PhD at Canterbury Christchurch University, Kent, UK. I haven't managed to get funding yet for my PhD, a lot of funding is restricted to EU students or is in subjects which are quite different from mine. My thesis is on the harmful effects of corporal punishment in Nepalese schools but the research I am doing is also a major contribution to the global debate on corporal punishment. I completed my Masters degree at Birkbeck College, University of London in Education, Power and Social Change and I have also been a maths teacher for the last 6 years. I am desperate to finish my research not just for my personal success but for the sake of all the suffering children and damaged adults in the world. It is also my thesis that there is a negative effect on socio-economic life, as psychological effects such as low self-esteem, automated thinking and immediate compliance stifle the creativity, innovation, risk-taking and entrepeneur spirit that are needed to stimulate growth and build a vibrant and flowing economy.
