Two Regimes - Wartime Survival

Donation protected
Imagine being a mother of two young children, living under Stalin's repressive regime in Russia in the 1930’s.  Your husband was sent to the Gulag, returned, then taken away – never to return again.  You have no job, no house, and hungry children.  Then Germany invades Russia and you witness the murder of 7,500 Jewish friends, neighbors and people from your town in Mariupol, Russia (now Ukraine).  You and your children are then sent to forced labor camps in Germany in a padlocked cattle car.  In 1945 your forced labor camp is  liberated by the US military.

This is the true story of Teodora Verbitskya (author and mother) and her professional artist daughter, Nadia Werbitzky (1922-2005) who in written word and artist brush documented their story of survival under the two regimes of Stalin and Hitler.

This strong story of survival by women in wartime has so many valuable lessons to teach us even today.  Your donation will go to help create lesson plans for grades K-12.  These lesson plans once created will be available to ALL Teachers for FREE.  These lesson plans will also be video taped and SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPETED!

Two Regimes along with the Foundation for Leon County Schools has received a $25,000 grant from the Florida Department of Cultural Affairs, that requires us to find $25,000 in matching funds.

Your donation will also go to provide a powerful school exhibition that will travel to 10-17 schools.  This exhibition of paintings and passages reachs students on an emotional level.   If you can touch one’s emotion, you can touch their heart. If you touch their heart you might be able to open their mind to understand the suffering of others.

Thank you so much for anything you can do for us.
