Beginning this September, we are embarking on a great adventure as parents:
Homeschooling our son with Asperger's Syndrome.
We want to do everything within our power to set our son up for academic achievement, who has thus far been unable to have success in the traditional classroom setting. For us, this means taking some pretty drastic steps. This summer, I am leaving my job to prepare our curriculum for the upcoming year and dedicate my time to doing it right.
We believe that in order to see Samuel thrive, we need to integrate Occupational Therapy/Sensory Integration techniques into the material, as well as open up the doors to him in his particular areas of gifting, which is the arts and music.
To say that we'll be doing this on a shoe-string budget is an understatement, and we are asking our family, friends, and my blog followers for help.
HOW CAN I HELP?
I'm glad you asked! We are raising funds to pay for curriculum and materials, music lessons, tuition for Christian Youth Theater, and field trips. All funds go into their own separate account that is used only for Samuel's education.
