Ki-Rin's Anemia

Donation protected
Hi everyone! I am making this page for my two and a half year old cat, Ki-Rin. Ki-Rin was adopted in December 2011 and was a seemingly healthy cat for the next two years. In December of 2013, an emergency vet visit revealed that Ki-Rin is actually very sick. He has a type of anemia called hemolytic anemia, which basically means that his body is destroying its own red blood cells. Steroids can help keep his red blood cell count up, but it's not perfect. Two nights ago, Ki-Rin stopped eating. I took him to the vet on May 16th, 2014. His red blood cell count was 5%. The normal count is anywhere between 35% and 45%, for reference. His vet was afraid to keep him overnight because the stress of the cage and IVs could kill him. She sent Ki-Rin home with me, complete with two antibiotics and a new steroid prescription. Over the last few months, Ki-Rin has been to the vet for countless blood tests and other tests. I've been paying for all of them, but the visit this weekend is putting me in a tough spot. His visit was $250 and the steroids he takes cost about $40 and they last for about two weeks. He'll be on them for the rest of his life.

I am coming to you, the internet, to help Ki-Rin. Many of you have reblogged pictures of him on Tumblr, liked pictures of him on Instagram, and seen him on various Facebook pages. He's a kitten with problems that no kitten (or any cat) should ever have to face. Anything that you can give to help Ki-Rin get better would be amazing and he and I cannot thank you enough. If he could speak, I am sure he would thank you, but because he can't. I will speak for him. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. <3
