Making it Through the Summer

As many of you know, I have been in school continuously for the last twenty-seven years. In June 2014, I am proud to say that my (institutional) education is coming to an end and I will be graduating from the University of Chicago with a Ph.D in Political Science.
I was fortunate to get a job at John Jay College that I will begin at the end of August 2014. As a result, I moved to New York to begin the next chapter in my life. Unfortunately, I will not receieve my first pay check until the school year begins (September 2014). At the same time, some financial support that I was counting on to help me through the summer, is no longer available.
As a result, I need to make it through the next three months in New York before my job begins. Right now, I currently do not have enough income to cover my rent, and to pay my (many) hospital bills due to the very expensive #lupus treatments and hospitalizations I had while I lived in Virginia.
Humbly, I am asking you, my community, if you would be willing to donate to help me through the summer.
I must admit, I feel some measure of embarassment. I've always taken great pride in being able to cover my bills and pay my rent. But today, I'm walking on the guidance of my mentors, and reaching out to my community in my time of need.
Any amount, would be a huge help. If you could support me as I make this one last push (hopefully) through the summer as an under-paid individual, I would be incredibly grateful.
