My name is Mateo Hevezi.
I am an independent artist who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I served 18 years in active military service as a Marine Corps combat correspondent and engineer mechanic. I am service-connected disabled from a life-altering brain injury. Until I can qualify for my artists visa (here in Japan where I am preparing for the exhibit), I am unable to receive any salary in Japan due to Japan's strict regulations for independent foreign workers, and my disabilities. I am in the process of applying for my Japan artists visa, so I may remain in Japan long-term and complete several more projects, including:
- 2 additional photo exhibitions
- Complete the writing for my first book, "Shot by a Marine;"
- Work on a second book about the four seasons in Kamakura, Japan.
Currently, due to Japan's very strict visa policies, I must leave Japan every 90 days, which is expensive. I am also planning to eventually open a teaching studio/gallery in Japan, once I am established with my artists visa. All these things take patience and time.
Access to the AGNOSCO website is here:

As I am attempting to complete my advance preparation work for the AGNOSCO photography exhibition, I have encountered several unexpected financial obstacles and challenges that I have an immediate need for financial assistance.
I am 47, divorced father of two grown sons.
Thank you for supporting independent artists!
