Thank you to the Halling's family for allowing us to use their equipment to clean up the mats from CFPY, the volunteers who have been working endlessly that last couple of days and the Mennonite community for putting in some seriously hard work again today.
Another wave of rain has brought more water to our still flooding area last night. Homes that have been pumping out water, are forced to start all over again.
The rain fortunately has subsided for the afternoon, and Sean has asked that any volunteers come down to CFPY today at noon to help clean up. Also requesting help on Saturday, May 17 starting at 9am, with a need for shovels and wheel barrows.
We've come a long way since Sean opened his doors on Wednesday morning to see this...
Today was another busy day of gutting what was CFPY. The floor that buckled and shifted in the storm has all been removed. We received a crazy amount of help from Keuka College students, Penn Yan Academy, crossfit members and the community as a whole. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Lieutenant Gov. Duffy made an appearance this afternoon to see the devastation first hand. We all look forward to see what his response is to the flood damage.
Please keep the village of Penn Yan in your thoughts as the skies here turn dark and we expect more rain.
Again thank you ALL for your overwhelming generosity.
From Sean: "Thank you so much to everyone who helped today. There will be an open WOD tomorrow at 11am. The buy in will be a crow bar, sledge hammer, or anything that will help remove a floor. If you can help that would be great. We need to get the place as clean as possible to avoid mold and funk. We will call it a chipper WOD."
Still positive after all the wreckage. The amount of support we received from the community of Penn Yan as well as the Crossfit community is unbelievable. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Day one of clean-up is in the books. Tomorrow is a new day!
